Keynote Speaker:
Betty-Ann Heggie
Ms. Heggie is a resident of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan. Ms. Heggie
also attended the Columbia Business School in New York and completed the Senior Executive
program in 1998.
After a 26-year career
with Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (“PotashCorp”), Ms. Heggie retired
in January 2007. She joined PotashCorp in 1981,
working in market development and, in 1989, became a member of the senior
management team. In 1995 she was named Senior Vice President, Corporate
Relations and an officer of the company.
Ms. Heggie has served on a number of boards and associations
including serving as a director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for four
years, including terms as Chair of the International Strategic Advisory
Committee, Treasurer, and Chair of the Audit Committee. Ms. Heggie has also served as a director of the Saskatoon
Regional Economic Development Authority Inc., and an advisor to the
College of Commerce Chair for Saskatchewan Enterprise. She is also a past director of the
Canadian Wheat Board, where she chaired the Corporate Governance Committee, and
she chaired the development of a provincial chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2005 and 2006. Ms. Heggie is
currently serving on the board of MITACS, a Network of Centres of Excellence for the mathematical sciences, as well
as SPVC, a Capital Pool Company, trading on the TSX-Venture exchange.
Ms. Heggie was named Canada’s Best Investor Relations Officer at
the IR Magazine Awards in 2005, as selected by analysts and portfolio
managers. During Ms. Heggie's tenure as the Senior Vice President of Corporate
Relations, PotashCorp’s corporate reporting program
received the Award of Excellence from the Canadian Institute of Chartered
Accountants in three consecutive years (2004-2006), as well as top CICA honours in sustainability reporting, electronic disclosure
and financial reporting during the same period.
Ms. Heggie received the Canadian Investor Relations Institute’s
Award for Excellence in Investor Relations (2002); the Queen’s Golden Jubilee
Medal (2003); and was named as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by
the Women’s Executive Network in 2006.
Very recently Ms. Heggie has been elected into
the Hall of Fame of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful
Women.
